She's Back...The internet is great as is email. Unfortunately opportunists are using the internet through spam to entice the unsuspecting. Ergo, create a defense mechanism to stop the spam. Great in theory, however in real life, as a business, terrible. Let me relate the story of how people email the store and it is lost in spam. Now I spend about 15 minutes or more delating the spam. Almost lost Jeannette’s Hamilton sampler design. Jeannette calls to see why I have not responded to her email from 2 weeks earlier. Was I not pleased with the design? She couldn’t understand the lack of feedback. Let me check the computer at home and see what has happened. Lo and behold there is her beautiful design plus a few other emails for the store. So ladies, if you have elected to receive the store’s newsletter by email, make sure that we are noted as a friend, otherwise you will miss out on what is happening including sales that we have.I do love the internet for research. I keep looking for the new and the unusual for the store. For example, punch needle over the past two years is making a very strong return using the “Russian” punch needle and the overdyed threads. This style of hand work is sooo popular that I am on constant back order with my suppliers. I sound like a broken record when I say that the items are back ordered. Flo had a course in September and we learned that you needed the correct needle to go with the proper fabric. Plus I learned that you do know how to read what is included in your chart when I order. Otherwise, it’s a surprise - a big, big surprise. The other area which is expanding is the silk ribbons. It turns out that quilters and knitters are now using silk ribbon as embellishments. Going for customer service, after many frustrating attempts this year to stock silk ribbon, I am now approaching the manufacturers. Hopefully by the time you receive this newsletter, River Silks will be in the store. My biggest excitement is having Jeannette Douglas teach the Hamilton Sampler on Friday afternoon October 20th and all day Saturday October 21st. For those who are interested, we have a few seats. As is it the weekend of the needlework show, we are having our own in store specials. What's NewThe “New” chart holder on the front counter is stuffed with the latest releases. We have the Mirabilia’s ladies and dragonflies plus Lavender & Lace Dance of the Roses. England’s Heritage Stitchcraft has released three new dog designs. The latest Stoney Creek magazine is now in the store and is the last issue to complete the Hummingbird afghan series. We are also now carrying the Australian magazines—Australian Smocking and Embroidery, Sew Beautiful, Inspirations, Embroidery & Cross Stitch. Plus the Canadian magazine, A Needle Pulling Thread. On area has been dedicated sonly for punch needle for the charts, fabric, needles, hoops and Clover’s hoop stands. Some of the charts include fabric while others only include the transfer for the design. We also have a beautiful book called the Dancing Needle. At this time reserves came be made for a Russian 3 thread needle expected to arrive in mid November. DMC has a boxed Christmas metallic collection now available. Plus finally after waiting for months, the DMC overyed line is here. A new line of silk ribbon called River Silk is arriving in the 4mm size. This new line includes both solids and overdyeds.Contact Info
