Flying Threads
The Most Wished For Day of the Year
(Or as I believe what our customers wish was true 365 days of the year.) Oh, my biggest wish is to be able to stitch in peace without interruptions. That means no phone calls, no meals, and no loss of feeling when I’ve been sitting for too long. (Right. Keep dreaming there, Mum. Maybe your wish will come true about the same time that the Apocalypse dawns.) See, I need this in order to be able to do more stitching -- I’m falling behind. (This is nothing new.)
So far I’ve finished one of the side panels of Leisure Arts’ Southern Magnolias, Victoria Sampler’s Close at Heart, and Lavender Path by Patricia Ann Designs. The last is a new designer we’ve found, and her patterns are quite simple, but the result is a rather elegant sampler. Lavender Path is primarily shades of soft greens and purples with a touch of white and silver thread.
I’ve been watching too many episodes of Clean Sweep, the organizational show on TLC. I was so good, I went out and bought underbed storage containers. I even put everything away neatly... but forgot to label what was in each one. (This surprises me... not at all.) So when I go to look for something to stitch, I need to rummage through the various locations. (It gets worse when she’s trying to find one skein of floss of a specific colour. ‘I know it was around here somewhere!’ Oy gevalt.) I have rediscovered (save me now) that some of the projects I’ve started and put to the side were near completion. (Can we say [Mirabilia’s] Under the Friendship Tree all over again?)
Speaking of reorganizing... the three front windows have undergone a transformation. (It’s only taken us six months to actually do said magic.) To the one side of the main door is the classical wedding... and on the other is a teddy bear wearing an oversized yellow rain slicker with pictures featuring children. (Us, optimistic? Nah. That’s just the logical progression of things.) Drop on by to see the cute ducks (see, I mentioned them :P) and our large window with its spring-oriented décor. See you soon!

What's New
Spring is here, the birds are chirping (alternatively, if you don’t like birds, please substitute ‘bloody birds’), and we’re into the bizarre weather. (Yup, that’s normal.) Maybe ‘raining like cats and dogs’ would be appropriate if mid-April is any indication. (How cancats and dogs fall from the sky?)
Speaking of cats, there is a new series from Heritage Stitchcraft. The chart of a trio of cats is called Purrfect Harmony and features the slightly cartoonish characters of Margaret Sherry. As you can tell by the name, the characters are musically oriented, featuring a fiddler, a cellist, and a flutist.
From Stoney Creek, we have tiny pewter picture frames. They are available in three general shapes: the opening is either an oval, a circle, or a rectangle. Also just in from Stoney Creek is a series of designs and frames that are suitable gifts for the teacher -- Silver Apple Kits.
As always, we also have new charts arriving on a regular basis. Please drop by the store to see the latest charts that have come in.
