The Wedding...For those who are not aware of my daughter’s nuptials, it finally happened! The groom’s parents and myself did the happy dance. The reason: real estate. Terry’s parents got back their loft and my prize was the basement. Let us rejoice on this happy occasion.I looked gorgeous in my royal purple dress and Jo (groom’s mom) stunning in her simple black dress with the white coat. And the dresses were a steal. When I arrived in Dallas on Thursday night for the Sunday morning wedding, I had no dress. And Jo was not happy with her current selection. So Macy’s be on the look out for two ladies on a mission. Plus before we left for the store, I found a 15% off coupon! We head straight for dress selection where everything was on sale up to 75% off plus we had that coupon. I find 3 dresses for Jo and 1 for me. Tried them on and they fit wonderfully. So within 10 minutes of arriving in the dress department, we paid for our dresses. My dress was regular $120 US and I paid $28 which included the 8% state tax. Jo paid a few dollars less than me. Upstairs to lingerie and purchased the undergarments. Unfortunately the coupon was not applicable. We then wandered and went for lunch. Gotta love those franchises, especially the ones that are like bread shops. Delicious and tasty. Back to the house for more celebrating. No one can believe the prices we paid for the dresses and how long it took to find them. When I am on a mission, clear the path and full engines ahead. Location does not matter, only the mission. Chris and Terry spent their time going to the airport constantly to pick up the wedding guests while I enjoyed talking to everyone. Between us, I didn’t even think of GT because Elly was at the helm and she will keep everyone straightened out. Did I mention, she also cleaned up the fabric section. Death to me, if it is not maintained. Meanwhile back in Texas, the big morning has arrived. Because I am not into technology, Chris straightened my hair with a flat iron? I did look good and so did the bride. The day was in the 80s, the sun was shining and the bride was a vision when she got out of her blue jeans and into her dress. It was simple and very Chris. During the ceremony, I only had misty eyes during their words to each other. The breakfast brunch was scrumptious and filled everyone. Leaving 80° weather, it was time to return to the realality of the cold north 32° weather in Hamilton. On the bright side, Elly had cleaned the back fabric cutting table. Bets were being laid on how long I could keep it clean. Then to shock even more people, my friend Janice came in to organize the back room. It was surprising what I found back there. Stuff that hadn’t seen the light of day in 7 or 8 years. Forgot about that. Hum, that’s what happened to that item. Who would have thought. Now I am organized at the store. Wonder if Janice is willing to come to my house. As someone very close to me would say, “A slim to none chance. Be happy the store is looking so fine.” If only it would last. But there is some much stitching to be done. Potato chips for dinner, anyone? Or cherry pie? Covers the food groups for carbs and fruit. What's NewSpring is in the air.
